Volunteer with Kids for Paws

Use what you’re good at to help more animals be seen.

We are building a caring adult team to help families begin Pen Pals for Paws™, bring our missions into schools and groups, support shelter needs, and share animal stories responsibly.

Where help matters most

Help more families take the first step.

Our immediate priority is turning interest into completed missions for animals. These focused roles support that work from the first family welcome through shelter delivery and impact follow-up.

01

Pen Pals coordinator

Welcome interested families, help them choose a Paw, answer grown-up questions, and follow each letter from started to submitted.

02

Schools & group outreach

Introduce Pen Pals for Paws to schools, homeschool groups, Scouts, libraries, and youth organizations, then help adult leaders begin.

03

Letter review & delivery

Review submissions for verified facts and privacy, organize approved letters, and coordinate delivery with shelter partners.

04

Activities & resources

Help create clear prompts, printable activities, and adult guides that make it easier for children of different ages to participate.

05

Family & story outreach

Share approved opportunities and animal stories through community groups, social media, newsletters, and family networks.

06

Shelter supplies support

Help organize in-kind drives, sponsor outreach, wish-list needs, and responsible delivery of useful items to approved partners.

How we work

Caring comes with responsibility.

Each adult volunteer receives a defined role and clear guidance. Depending on the work, placement may require screening, training, references, or a background check.

  • Communicate with parents, caregivers, educators, and approved partners—not privately with children
  • Keep child, family, and partner information confidential
  • Use verified animal details and approved materials
  • Contact shelters on behalf of Kids for Paws only when authorized
  • Follow adult-supervision and media-permission requirements
